Hello Picnic Season

Driving into work this morning I was thinking how time is just flying - again. I really can’t believe it is July already and I am sure I say this every month. But for real, I feel like just last week we were worried about snow – even though that never happened this winter!
July is one of my favorite months. I love fireworks, the weather, picnics and cooking out, and the good-spirit that is typically in the air. July just makes me feel like a kid again since I was out of school and had no worries. Except, as most of you know, once you grow up, you don’t get the summer off anymore (except for teachers obviously) but even some of them work through the summer.
But with the little bit of summer that we get here in western PA, I am going to soak up the sun and fun time as much as I can, which means picnics and cookouts as often as possible.
I would like to provide some recipes that I think are great for picnics and cookouts. I am not a potato/pasta salad type of girl. I like the other staples and a variety of different sides. It should be mentioned that you want to be careful that you don’t bring someone that others may also think of (hence the potato/pasta salad). It always sucks to take a dish and have the same dish there and it’s obvious that everyone likes the other one better. If you know me, I don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so these recipes don’t take long at all but are always big hits. I found links to the recipes so you can easily print and store for future picnics!
Grape Dessert - I am not the pretty dessert type of person, so I mix this all up. I also don’t put that many nuts on it. I like the taste of the grapes and yogurt blend more than the nuts.
Mini Jalapeno Wraps - My dad always makes these but be warned, depending on who makes them they can either be really spicy or not. Dad’s are always perfect!
And finallllly, Peach Sangria! Make enough to fill the water coolers that have the little spout at the end. This beverage will win over everyone. (PS- I am sure there are many varieties of this recipe out there so trial and error my friends).
Let me know what your favorite dish is to take with you during summer picnics. I am always up for a new, easy dish!
